Tag: Coercive Entitlement

Coercive Entitlement occurs when a person treats their desired access, inclusion, authority, attention, or accommodation as an obligation others must satisfy.

When an independent choice conflicts with that expectation, anger, grievance, intimidation, guilt, or escalating relational pressure may be used to make refusal costly.

Within the Captivity Lens, the defining concern is not disappointment itself, but the use of pressure to override another person’s agency and restore the entitled person’s preferred arrangement.
