Visible Caregiving is care that is outwardly observable, socially legible, and often easy for others to recognize as evidence of devotion, responsibility, goodness, or sacrifice.
Within the Captivity Lens, visible caregiving is not assumed to reveal the full relational architecture; public acts of care can coexist with coercion, extraction, control, neglect, or harm that remains hidden from view.
The Institute therefore distinguishes the appearance of caregiving from whether the person receiving that care retains agency, dignity, safety, reciprocity, and usable freedom.
